The Industrial Foundation represents the best of what business, industry, and COMMUNITY can do when we put our heads together: we can be true difference makers. Our Team is largely Hispanic and, although we’ve been in business for 30+ years, never heard of any interest from our team in learning English until recently. I mentioned the internal conversation in an email to Charlie, wondering if the training consortium would have any courses to offer our team. Within a couple of days, a few of us had met in person, sent a follow up email or two, and a BRAND NEW program was in the works. With help from partners through the Foundation, school system, and other local businesses, 30+ Spanish speakers were taking an English as a second language course on Monday afternoons. That is the power of this unique network. Because of this, we’ve made a huge stride in improving our culture, team health and communication, and GROWING as a business. I’m so thankful for the willingness of this organization and their continued impact on making Shelby County the best it can be, present and future.
