Shelby County
Economic Development Fund
Since its founding in 1957, the Shelby County Industrial Development Foundation has played a key role in transforming Shelby County into a thriving hub for industry and business. Thanks to the foresight and dedication of our founders, we have welcomed many successful companies, developed vital infrastructure, and created opportunities for both businesses and residents alike.
Our mission of creating quality of life for those in Shelby County continues today as we focus on recruiting community appropriate companies that are environmentally conscious and support the growth of existing businesses. Some of our most notable accomplishments include:
- Developing and acquiring Shelby County’s water supply, Guist Creek Lake, and operate the lake, marina, and campgrounds.
- Opening and maintaining various industrial parks.
- Assisted with recruiting for the Shoppes of the Bluegrass, Wieland, Shelbyville Battery, Distilleries, and industrial and business employers.
- Expanding educational and workforce development initiatives.
- Instrumental in attracting JCTCS and the Associated Industries program.
- Associated Industries created a training consortium to support Shelbyville employers.
As we look toward the future, we are excited to announce the establishment of a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. This new initiative will enable us to sustain and grow our economic development efforts, ensuring that Shelby County remains competitive and prosperous.
We invite you to be a part of this exciting journey. Your donation will directly support our continued efforts in enhancing the county’s infrastructure, workforce, and business landscape. Please consider contributing at one of the levels listed.
As part of your investment, you will receive complimentary basic membership to the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.
